Gary is one of Elite’s longest-serving franchisees, having run his business for over 25 years. Before joining Elite, he worked in banking as a loans officer but decided it was time for a change.

While most of Gary’s work is residential, he also services commercial clients and has seen flooring trends shift over the years. Many shared spaces now feature hard flooring instead of carpet, and where carpet is used, short pile styles are far more popular than the long pile carpets of the past.

Despite changing trends, professional carpet cleaning and upholstery cleaning remain essential for maintaining hygiene, appearance, and longevity—especially in busy households.

Festival Time Brings Unexpected Cleaning Demand

Interestingly, the Tamworth Country Music Festival is one of Gary’s busier periods—but not because of tourists.

“Many locals actually try to leave town during the festival,” Gary explains. “It gets very busy and traffic can be frustrating. When people stay home instead, that’s often when they notice their carpets aren’t as clean as they should be—and they give us a call.”

With more time spent at home, stains, odours, and wear in high-traffic areas quickly become more noticeable.
